Teach to Travel in Ubud
One of the schools that I volunteered at in Ubud.
Morning assembly.
On my second  trip to Bali I volunteered to teach English through an organization called Teach to Travel, I stayed in their volunteer house and taught English in several local elementary schools.  Proficiency in English can lead to a higher paying job in the tourist industry on Bali.
School in Indonesia is not free, parents are required to pay for their child's education.  I believe a month costs about 100,000 Indonesian Rupiah or about $11 USD.  Volunteering was not free either.  I paid $800 USD for one month which is used to pay for the Teach to Travel program as well as my shared housing in Penestanan with the other volunteers.
On the left volunteer Suzanne from Holland and on the right Nathan from South Carolina, USA.  Nathan has stayed on in Bali as a program director for Teach to Travel.
Line it up.
Inside the classroom - desks donated by local Rotary Club.
Star students - the children all wear school uniforms.
