GRASSHOPPERS/BELALANG
'Like looking through a magnifying glass, this painting shows a Balinese
vision of a miniature world of life.  Grasshoppers with bright, iridescent
hues play amidst equally brilliantly colored grass and plants.  Each insect
seems to be given individual, almost human-like qualities, a typical
stylistic feature used by many Balinese artists when dealing with animal
themes.  While perhaps not realistic, the grasshoppers appear harmless
land much more delightful'.
